Our Process
Like everything in life, it is important to plan ahead when you are considering any landscape or hardscape project. Whether you are a do-it-yourself person or someone who hires a professional like Northampton Nursery to do the work, having a plan in place is essential.
Planning ahead will give you time to really think about what you are hoping to achieve with the project. This may include a problem you are looking to address or an improvement you are looking to make for your enjoyment of your home and property.
If you choose to work with a professional, like Northampton Nursery, we will work with you to help guide you and advise you on the best way to achieve your goals for the project. This is the time to factor in the unique features and layout of your home and property. During the planning stage, Northampton Nursery, takes into account how the sun crosses your property, and if there are wet or dry areas which should be addressed. For a landscaping project, these things go a long way toward making sure we have the right plants in the right place. Planning for any grading and drainage issues is something you should always do on a hardscaping project. You don’t want to end up with a pond on your new patio or walkway.
During the initial consultation, we will ask you many questions so that we may begin to turn your dream into reality, for example:
– What is your general vision or goal?
– What are your likes/dislikes? (styles, materials, colors)
– What type of budget do you have? (this is very important and will enable us to better turn your dream into reality, because in reality, none of us has a money tree)
– What are your wants and your needs? (do you have priorities, are there special considerations with the site or how you plan to use the area)
We will also give you recommendations on your specific property that may apply such as:
– Drainage Issues.
– Permitting.
– Future plans and options that should be considered.
At the end of the initial consultation we will schedule an appointment to get together again to present plans and proposal for your project.
We will present a detailed proposal for your project, based on the conversations we had during our initial consultation. If applicable, your proposal will be broken down into categories showing the investment for each allowing you to manage and prioritize your dreams and budget. If any changes or revisions are needed, they will be made and presented for your approval.
Upon signing the proposal and making your deposit, we will schedule your project and contact you within one week, with your tentative start date. As your tentative start date approaches we will update you on where you stand on the schedule (asking that you understand that in our business weather may dictate changes to our schedule). Before your project begins, the salesman/designer and the construction manager will do an on-site project walkthrough to go over the specifics of your project.
Our team of professionals will arrive to transform your dream into reality. We will update you as to what’s taking place throughout the job while in process on a daily basis.
Upon completion of your project, we will do a final walk through with you to ensure no detail was overlooked and you are completely satisfied. We will proactively follow-up within 6 months of the job completion, to check for any warranty issues we may need to address and to make sure you’re happy.
